Storm!

Went to bed with the knowledge that our area was under tornado watch until 3:00am. A funnel cloud was forming just a few miles to the west of us, but it was moving due north, so it didn’t seem like we were at risk. Still, it was a little strange knowing there were several storm systems in the area that could start twisting and touch down anytime, anywhere, and we would most likely be asleep when/if it happened. Woke up at 5:00am to the sound of howling winds and thunderbolt after thunderbolt. Apparently a tornado had touched down somewhere in our state during the course of the night, but it was in a remote area and caused minimal property damage. A system was heading straight for us, but seemingly void of tornadic activity, so would have gone straight back to sleep. If it just wasn’t for that damned wind and the thunder that was just so loud!

As the rain keeps pouring down, we’ll have flash flooding to contend with…

Wow, that's all rather exciting. Got a raft ready for flood?

Cue Cubby Checker: Twister baby twister.

Oooh. I love severe weather, so long as it doesn't damage anything. I hope you've survived unscathed!!

That's really scary! I've never seen a tornado - I don't think I could handle it. But then, I'm from Cali, so I have to deal with my share of earthquakes!

I too am a lover of a good electrical storm, but tornadoes are something else--I don't know if I'd slept soundly after those pictures from Kansas last weekend. Glad you're safe.

Catt - bare hyggelig! Ikke så hyggelig med værforholdene om dagen... en skikkelig tordenbyge er jo bare hyggeilig iblant, men noe annet med tornadoer...

Pearl - no... just my flip-flops.. but since I'm about 3 stories tall I should be OK...

Anita - Still going strong! Last night was just more rain.. suppose to keep up most of the week

Leslie - I think earthquakes are just as scary as tornadoes, if not worse...

Sage - thanks... yeah that was a bad one. Fortunately we didn't get one like that...

Jeez, compared to the boring weather we get here in Ireland, I'm almost jealous! I love a good thunderstorm, and any opportunity to say 'Toto, I've got a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore...'
